EU Green Week 2026 conference

This year's theme of the conference is ‘Investing in a nature-positive economy’, highlighting how nature-positive business models can strengthen Europe’s prosperity, resilience and competitiveness while delivering environmental benefits.

CBE JU will take part in the event’s exhibition on 3-4 June to showcase circular bio-based solutions funded by the partnership.

Representatives of the WOODCELL, Rural BioReFarmeries and FIBSUN projects will join the stand with bio-based products and materials demonstrating innovative applications in packaging, construction and automotive sectors. Cleaning products developed by the SURFs UP project will also be on display.

Biodegradable food protective packaging made from sidestream grass fibres through a sustainable fibre-processing approach, offering a renewable alternative for food protection applications.

Lightweight & durable non-woven composites for automotive applications made from hemp fibres sourced from Bühl, Germany.

FIBSUN

Insulation boards made from wetland biomass harvested from re-wetted peatlands in the Netherlands and Finland, designed for sustainable building applications with strong thermal performance.

  • Converts environmental restoration biomass into construction materials

FIBSUN

Cleaning and agrochemical products containing biosurfactants from second-generation biomass, enabling safe, sustainable and cost-efficient formulations at pilot-to-industrial scale. Applications include: 

  • Bathroom cleaner: effective cleaning with bio-based surfactants 
  • Kitchen cleaner: sustainable grease and dirt removal 
  • Dishwashing liquid: formulation for daily dish cleaning 

Why it matters 

  • Replaces fossil-based surfactants 
  • Reduces chemical toxicity in cleaning & agrochemical products 
  • Demonstrates scalable industrial biosurfactant production
