This year's theme of the conference is ‘Investing in a nature-positive economy’, highlighting how nature-positive business models can strengthen Europe’s prosperity, resilience and competitiveness while delivering environmental benefits.

CBE JU will take part in the event’s exhibition on 3-4 June to showcase circular bio-based solutions funded by the partnership.

Discover the exhibition

Representatives of the WOODCELL, Rural BioReFarmeries and FIBSUN projects will join the stand with bio-based products and materials demonstrating innovative applications in packaging, construction and automotive sectors. Cleaning products developed by the SURFs UP project will also be on display.

Biodegradable food protective packaging made from sidestream grass fibres through a sustainable fibre-processing approach, offering a renewable alternative for food protection applications.

Rural BioReFarmeries

Burger box coated with plastic-free WoodCell™ crystalline cellulose, with grease and oxygen barriers, demonstrates mono-material paper packaging.

  • Strengthens food safety with high-performance barriers against grease and oxygen

Lower-quality hardwood and plywood sidestreams

Lightweight & durable non-woven composites for automotive applications made from hemp fibres sourced from Bühl, Germany.

  • Reduces fossil material dependency

FIBSUN

Insulation boards made from wetland biomass harvested from re-wetted peatlands in the Netherlands and Finland, designed for sustainable building applications with strong thermal performance.

Why it matters 

  • Restores degraded peatlands 
  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions 
  • Converts environmental restoration biomass into construction materials

Broadleaf cattail (Typha latifolia) & common reed (Phragmites australis)

FIBSUN

Cleaning and agrochemical products containing biosurfactants from second-generation biomass, enabling safe, sustainable and cost-efficient formulations at pilot-to-industrial scale. Applications include: 

  • Bathroom cleaner: effective cleaning with bio-based surfactants 
  • Kitchen cleaner: sustainable grease and dirt removal 
  • Dishwashing liquid: formulation for daily dish cleaning 

Why it matters 

  • Replaces fossil-based surfactants 
  • Reduces chemical toxicity in cleaning & agrochemical products 
  • Demonstrates scalable industrial biosurfactant production

Hardwood sugars & lignin from wood waste & regional food processing waste

Partner events

The CBE JU-funded BIO-INSPIRE project will host an online open call info webinar on 5 June 2026, from 12:00 to 13:30 CEST, as an official EU Green Week 2026 partner event. The webinar will present the project’s teaming and knowledge exchange open call, which offers cascade funding opportunities to support study visits, cross-regional collaboration and knowledge exchange in widening countries. The event is aimed at bioeconomy stakeholders, clusters, SMEs, researchers, policymakers and innovation actors interested in scaling bio-based and nature-positive innovations. Register here.
