CBE JU photo and video competition winners announced

Publication date:

The 2025 edition of the CBE JU photo and video competition has concluded, with winners across five categories announced at the CBE JU Stakeholder Forum on 24 March 2026. RUNFASTER4EU project received the grand prize for a photo of its flagship biorefinery plant in Porto Torres, Italy.

This year's competition focused on how Europe’s circular bioeconomy is creating tangible benefits for businesses, communities and the environment. Under the hashtag #CBEScaleUp, participants were encouraged to capture the essence of bio-based innovation in motion – from pilot-scale testing to commercial production, from lab discoveries to market-ready solutions, and from local biomass sources to new circular value chains.

Record participation

The 2025 edition saw the highest participation to date, receiving over 300 submissions from 50 projects across the five categories: Scaling innovation, People and skills, Circular Europe, Creative focus and Video stories. All winning entries were exhibited at the CBE JU Stakeholder Forum, where industry leaders, policymakers and innovators gathered to discuss Europe’s bioeconomy and competitiveness. The grand prize winner received tickets to Bio Innovations Europe, a high-level bioeconomy event taking place on 10–11 June in The Hague, The Netherlands.

A panel of six jurors, including representatives from the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), the CBE JU Programme Office, as well as the Directorate-General for Communication of the European Commission assessed the entries.

The grand prize was awarded to RUNFASTER4EU whose entry received the highest unanimous score from the jury and was recognised as most successfully portraying the theme of scaling up.
