Shaping Europe’s sustainable innovation: CBESF23 wrap-up

Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), a €2 billion public-private partnership advancing the European bio-based sector, recently hosted its first CBE JU Stakeholder Forum (CBESF23) focused on pushing the boundaries of innovation, fostering sustainability and creating new business models to help shift Europe from fossil-based to bio-based production and consumption. The event on 6-7 December in The Egg venue (Brussels) brought together industry leaders, experts, researchers, policymakers and enthusiasts from Europe and beyond.

EUCYS 2022 winners meet bioeconomy stakeholders during Brussels visit

Lucas Sousa Dória and Tiago Fernandes Vieira, the winners of the EUCYS 2022 Bioeconomy Prize, visited Brussels at the invitation of CBE JU in September 2023. This visit aimed to introduce their innovative research project to key policymakers within the European institutions.

EUCYS 2023 bioeconomy winner announced

Elisa Jääskeläinen won the EUCYS 2023 bioeconomy prize for her work on optimising the pre-treatment of cellulose nanocrystals. This prize is a visit to Brussels with CBE JU to present her project to representatives of the European institutions, EU, and national policymakers and stakeholders of the circular bio-based sector.

CBE JU call supporting the New European Bauhaus Academy closed

The CBE JU Programme Office has received three project proposals by the 4 October deadline for the 2023-2 call dedicated to supporting activities for the New European Bauhaus Academy. Applicants have requested €1.7 million in CBE JU funding against the indicative call budget of €1 million. Evaluation of the project proposals will take place in October 2023, and applicants will receive the call results in the first quarter of 2024.
