CBE JU boosting the EU’s biotech and biomanufacturing sectors

CBE JU is recognised as a strategic financial instrument for Europe’s biotech and biomanufacturing sector scaling up the production capacity of bio-based chemicals and materials to industrial scale. The partnership’s important contribution was highlighted in the European Commission’s communication on Building the future with nature: Boosting biotechnology and biomanufacturing in the EU launched by Margrethe Vestager, the Executive Vice President of the European Commission, yesterday.

30 innovative projects selected for CBE JU funding

The CBE JU Programme Office has concluded the evaluation of the 2023 call for project proposals. 30 proposals have been selected to receive a total of nearly €215.5 million CBE JU funding. Grant agreements with the successful candidates are expected to be signed before the end of May 2024.

2024 CBE JU funding priorities announced

CBE JU has published its Annual Work Programme for 2024, including information about the next call for project proposals. €213 million will be dedicated to advancing competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe across 18 topics.

CBE JU Governing Board elects new Chair

Rob Beekers, representing the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), CBE JU’s private partner, was elected Chair of the Governing Board for a period of two years in the Governing Board’s meeting yesterday. He was previously the Vice-Chair of the CBE JU Governing Board and is currently the Chair of the BIC Governance Board.
