The ReLeaf project has produced a high-purity ammonium sulphate fertiliser recovered from the liquid fraction of sewage sludge. The product recovers nutrients from a residual stream and returns them to agricultural use.
The recovered fertiliser has a composition comparable to commercial mineral fertilisers. It therefore demonstrates a circular route for nutrient recovery while reducing the need to rely entirely on conventionally produced fertiliser inputs.
