SUSFERT developed multifunctional fertilisers for phosphorus and iron supply using renewable and recycled materials. The formulations combine ingredients such as struvite recovered from wastewater, biodegradable lignin-based coatings, probiotics and other bio-based components.
The fertilisers are designed to fit existing production processes and agricultural practices while reducing the use of non-renewable and synthetic inputs. SUSFERT reduced non-renewable phosphorus use by 40% and developed alternatives to synthetic controlled-release coatings and iron chelates.
