The PLENITUDE project established industrial-scale production of ABUNDA mycoprotein through a zero-waste fermentation process. The ingredient is rich in protein and fibre and is intended for human food applications.
ABUNDA provides a non-animal protein source for food products. At full production capacity, the project estimates that its manufacture could avoid around 5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year compared with meat-protein production.
