Compostable coffee capsules made with more than 95% renewable resources, designed to preserve freshness and flavour while withstanding the temperatures required to prepare coffee.
The TERRIFIC project has produced injection-moulded coffee capsules using compostable packaging materials made from sugars derived from agricultural sidestreams. The materials are designed to contain more than 95% renewable resources.
The capsules preserve coffee freshness and flavour while providing the thermal resistance required during preparation. The project is also assessing several end-of-life routes, including recycling, composting, repulping and anaerobic digestion.
