About

The BeonNAT project processes underutilised tree and shrub species grown on marginal land into bio-based materials and consumer products. One of the resulting applications is a wine packaging box.

The wine box demonstrates how biomass grown on marginal land can be used in consumer packaging without competing directly with conventional food production, creating an additional value route for underutilised plant species.

Key benefits

  • Creates value from biomass grown on marginal lands
  • Demonstrates a packaging application for underutilised plant species
  • Supports diversification of forest-based bio-products

Application

  • Wine packaging
  • Consumer packaging
