FIBSUN has developed insulation boards using broadleaf cattail and common reed harvested from re-wetted peatlands. The wetland biomass is processed into a bio-based material for building insulation.
The boards combine thermal-performance applications with the use of biomass generated through peatland restoration. They demonstrate how material production can create an additional use for vegetation harvested from re-wetted land.
